In our internship we didn't really have a project however we did teach on our own for a whole week at Urban Discovery to 7th, 3rd and kindergarteners. We could tell we were successful because at the end of the day almost every child was smiling and we could tell that they had learn something meaningful and were looking forward to coming back to our class. They loved learning about something new and kept an open mind and that what was probably our biggest success. I've learned that at the end of the day you can't really measure successes by anything, successes is shown and is visual proof of what you've done has paid off. Like the kids we taught, they genuinely left the classroom wanting to learn more and were grateful for the class.
I think all four us interns really make a big difference at Thinkabit Lab because we are constantly helping the teachers and assist them with anything they need. We also completed many small projects and put things together for them.
Working at Thinkabit Lab was meaningful to my education because I learned a lot about coding and working with children. It taught how work to work with kids and to adapt to challenging situations.
Even though I don't want to peruse in teaching later on in my career this experience really helped me to get more of an insight of what teachers have to go through and now I have this new profound respects for them. It had broadened my view and now I know that it can sometimes get very hard to teach children a topic that they've never heard of or even getting their attention for 5 seconds. I have learned new ways to work with children and grown my patience.
Well we didn't really have a project however it was a process for us to teach at Urban Discovery. We d=first contacted our teacher Ms. Newton who teaches STEAM at Urban Discovery. We then emailed back and forth and had a few phone calls. We then visited the school to talk in person about what we were going to teach and go over logistics. Then the following week we taught all week everyday the three different grades. We taught 7th, 3rd and kindergartens.
I learned that my work ethic is a lot better when it is more hands on, however if it more of paper work then I slack and procrastinate heavily.
