Mini Golf Project
The mini golf project was a 10th grade wide project where all classes were involved. We had groups of 5 people and each had a specific task to do. For example our group was the video group we were responsible for writing a templet for a script and filming/editing them.
Building Process:
The first thing our group had to do was find a format for our golf course. This process included us using little rectangle pieces of paper and laying out different ideas, we then agreed on one and made prototypes and measurements. Next we measured our real boards and made cuts and nailed everything together. We also glued the turf down and added felt around our edges to cover up the wood. This was a bit challenging because there was a limiting amount of tools and were given a limiting time frame, but we made it worked and put 100% of our effort.
Humanities:
For this portion of the project we had choose a historical topic from the given choices, we chose The Golden Age and Queen Elizabeth. We then studied and researched the basic information and were quizzed on. After we had to go more specifically into our topics, our group chose famous people during the time. We then researched about own sub topics and wrote a essay on their obstacles that they faced and how they overcame.
Obstacles:
Everyone chose their obstacle from their essay. They chose one thing from their essay and made it real. It could've been metaphorically or literal object that had to have connected with their obstacle. I chose to do the globe theater for my purposes, my building process was very easy compared to other people's. I bought a cylinder canister from Michael's then made two arches bog enough for the golf ball to go through. I then smoothed the side with sand paper and painted it. This was a fairly easy and not time consuming mini project, I then used my time to help my other group members.

Math:
For math we first learned similar triangles. We then made blue prints and tried figuring out how to get our ball to the hole without hitting the obstacles. We used isosceles method, line of reflection, slope and similar triangle methods to figuring which angle and what math we needed. We then did this on photoshop on our blue print and wrote every step we had to take. After that we got it approved from our teacher and were prepared for exhibition.
Multimedia:
Our first assignment was to create 3 different logos and names for our project. Then we had multiple peer critique sessions and then had a whole team vote on the logo. After that we were all separated into our own groups and were responsible for our things. My group was in charge of filming/editing the videos that went with each groups historical time. For filming we used wide, close and medium shots, and the other video group filmed the golf courses and obstacles. After that we had some editors from both video groups editing the footage, they took out the green screen and added background and used different footage. They then got it critiqued by the teacher and had to get approval. This process over all was very stressful because of the miscommunication and was not organized very well. We were also given a short amount of time to film/edit, which caused more stress on both video groups. However this project was very fun despite the stress, I would love to this again.
Exhibition:
Pre exhibition was very hectic and crazy, but was lots of fun. Preparing for the exhibition was the last time you could glue down your obstacles or do last minutes fixes. When we did a dry run with our school, none of the students wanted to learn about the history they just wanted to play. This led to us our frustration because we had worked very hard on giving a 5 minute speech about our course and we felt that our work was for nothing. However during the actual exhibition the adults did want to hear about our project. Exhibition went ver well for me, I enjoyed explaining all the information and answering questions. I felt that I was prepared for everything and loved this project.
